Hey BP community, I'm John and I'm new here. I've been actually skimming your forums for a year or so now so I'm not totally new.
I'm here because:
1.) Of people like you, who I would like to connect with.
2.) My wife reads all of your discussions faithfully and gets so excited about all the things you guys talk about here. Nothing works like wife word of mouth.
3.) Recently we've just moved to So. California and decided we're going to begin getting our feet wet. This was actually the trigger.
A little bit about me, I'm a 29-year old int. marketing and lead generation specialist originally from Chicago. Sometimes at night I moonlight as a non-profit comedian.

Hi @John K., welcome to the site. What's your goal? Make sure is very specific as there are so many ways you can invest in Real Estate that if you are not as specific as possible, it will be hard to ever pull the trigger and get started!

You found the place to be! You will find no better place to build a solid platform than bigger pockets. The one thing we all agree up on is that we invest in real estate. Beyond that everyone is different.
The key is not get stuck on analysis paralysis! We have found slow and steady has made us very successful. Babysteps are key :) We invest in Central California and LOVE it. The low taxes and insurance make it attractive even with the high property costs.
We are buy and hold investors who invest in class A properties self-managing from a distance while working full time. We have a very specific business plan and we buy very specific houses. It's pretty awesome when both parties are totally on board! It took just my husband longer than myself but now we are totally both full on board.
I highly recommend you also check out- the blogs, forums and listen to the podcasts. If you see a post you enjoy check out the persons signature. As many of us have created resources around our niche (websites, blogs, etc) so checking out the signature is a great to get more information. Make sure you don't miss out on networking is by filling out your signature, profile and pming people with questions.
Welcome to the community! Good to see another SoCal investor be active. BP has a tremendous amount of information to help you, but it is only available if you seek it out. Be sure to be as active and engaging as possible. Read blogs, post questions, and the podcasts are gold! The best free education you can get. Good luck!

How fun to have a comedian on here! Not sure if I've heard of anyone else who does comedy so far. I've met a blues singer, poker players....other cool stuff, but no comedians.

First, I must thank all of you for such a warm welcome. I'm honored to be a part of such a proactive community. Also happy to see a lot of this is going on in my new state of residence.
@Elizabeth Colegrove Thank you for taking your time to explain how to use this platform effectively. My wife and I are like you and your husband before you got started. I learned a lot just from your post and am also following your blog. I'll definitely be asking you a question or two at some point.
@Dmitriy Fomichenko You are the man. Greatly appreciated. I may have questions for you at some point but I will read all of your posts first.
@Lumi Ispas It took me 10 tries to tag your name. I finally got it. Anyway, I've got multiple goals but my immediate goal is to "bird-dog" and wholesale. To bring opportunities to the right people. After I'm confident I want to buy and hold in some places, and flip in other places. I'm starting small.
@Ali Boone You have a cool name! I'm not really a comedian I just tell a lot of bad jokes to whoever will listen. Mostly just my wife and daughter. Hence non-profit. That was one of them.
