If you wish to tag someone in the conversation on the forum, type @ followed by their name and then select that person below. He or she will be notified of being tagged so that the conversation will continue.
if you wish to tag someone, start typing their name immediately after @ and then watch for the name to appear below the text box where you are typing. You have to click on the name to select it, that is how person gets tagged. Try it again!

You came to the right spot! BP is a great resource, and there are a lot of good local meetups too!
@Mel Selvidge has a meetup group focused specifically on what you want to do - buy an owner-occupied multifamily. I know Mel from other meetups, and she came out to volunteer at a cleanup day I organized in Oakland. Talk to her about it! I bought a 4plex with an FHA loan in the Bay Area for my first investment, and it was probably the best thing I ever did!
We're also meeting in SF on the 21st. There are a lot of great investors on this site, and locally in San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland. Hope to meet you soon Mike!
