I love Minneapolis as I studied there for 5 months as an exchange student from Norway.
Make sure to read the Ultimate Beginners Guide on www.biggerpockets.com/ubg. It is a great short book that gives you the overall overview on real estate investing and the many ways you can invest in real estate.

I agree with @Sawyer Lubke, this is such a great place to connect with other people in the real estate world. I have only been connected for the last few months and have built some pretty great connections already. Will be finalizing my first deal (hopefully) in the next couple weeks with a partner I met here in BP.
