I've been listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast for a few days now and have decided to check out the forums. I'm a realtor in AA, have two kids and a amazing wife. I've decided that I want more financial freedom and something that I can build for myself and my family. The only property I own is the one I live in. I have many goals. One being to join the hated 1%. I also have a goal of helping others, especially those from the lower socioeconomic areas of south east Michigan, to be financially free.
This is all new to me and frankly it's a little intimidating. I hope to soak up every little piece of knowledge I can.

Welcome to the forums @Robert Garcia! There are a lot of helpful people here and great information. I'm a full time wholesaler in Southeast Michigan. The properties I find are in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne county. I also know a very active wholesaler in the Ypsilanti Ann Arbor area. hello and welcome! I'm an investor in Ypsi with 2 single family rentals and undergoing our first flip. There is a great real estate investment club in A2, meets tonight even.
I'd be interested to hear about your thoughts about helping people in poor economic environments learn about financial freedom. Do you think real estate is a good avenue for that? Or are you thinking outside of REI?

Thanks for your interest in what I have to say.
Well many of my thoughts are kind of in their infancy. I have such a long way to go to have any financial freedom myself so it is a little bit daunting to think that I could someday help others become financially free.
Enough about my insecurities.
Basically what it boils down to is changing foundational beliefs that have been passed down generation after generation. Mentoring young men and women, showing them the ins and outs of real estate investing and creating "legacy wealth". Many of the kids I come across think the only way they can ever be wealthy is by hitting it big in entertainment or in sports. I don't know, I feel like I am rambling. Probably a better conversation to have over a cup of coffee or a cold beer.
