New to Real Estate: Seeking advice in New York

Hey BiggerPockets!

My name's Mark, wanted to introduce myself and get some help starting in real estate. I live in New York (Brooklyn) and currently looking for my first purchase. After reading Set For Life and listening to the podcast it seems like house-hacking is the way to go. Does anyone have advice on where to start looking in New York? A reputable real estate agent in the tristate? Meet and greets? Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Mark,
A lot of new investors are buying small multifamily properties across all boroughs, in the Bronx there are still some deals as well as parts of Brooklyn. I help new investors primarily in Queens. Defining the right place to start investing really depends on your goals in REI. What are you planning on doing 2, 5, 10 years from now?
As for meet & greets, BP always posts and sends out emails for meet ups. Other places like meetup.com and networking events held by local BP members are good places to meet like minded people who share your vision.
