My wife and I were somewhat forced into buying our first investment property near Bangor, Maine. I work in Healthcare and my office occupies the first floor of the building. We purchased it in Feb of 2020 and in preparation of becoming landlords I found Bigger Pockets.
We’ve read multiple books and I think I’ve listened to every podcast. It’s surprising how many times Bangor is mentioned on the podcasts.
I’m looking forward to buying more properties, most likely buy and hold.
We have two small kids so far and I’m hoping this venture will help create a financially secure future for all of us independent of my full time job. I’m looking forward to meeting other investors and seeing how far we can take this.

I just want to reach out and congratulate you on the start to a prosperous future in real estate. It sounds like you are taking the right approach in that you are educating yourself. A lot of people tend to undervalue education, thinking they can handle anything. The way I see it is that as soon as you think you know everything, that's when you start failing. Real estate is an ever changing landscape, and continued education is like your car in that you need to keep gassing up.

I’ll be sure to make that happen. Not the easiest thing to do with 2 small kids but as I’ve heard @Brandon Turner say many times on the podcast, you don’t find the time to do things, you make the time. Now if only I could find a 100+ unit mobile home park to bring to the table.
