New to real estate; St Louis area

I recently discovered BP from a buddy of mine right before I graduated from my undergrad this past winter. I didn't even consider real estate as an option for me to ever do, but it is honestly something I would love to submerge myself into. I just became a nurse this year and have now decided to use whatever I am saving to invest in real estate and get my foot in the door. I'm living as small as I can, so I can save a substantial amount to get things going. 

 I've looked into wholesaling, house hacking, and rental properties, but I need to take action and get things rolling. I have a lot to learn, but I'm excited to be a part of the community and get started on the journey!

Let me know if any of you are also in the area or just want to discuss anything real estate. It would be great to surround myself with others who are like minded and are also learning real estate.

Congrats! I am from St. Louis but have lived in Kansas City for the last 2 years. I worked full time as a RN after graduation May 2019 in a ICU here in KC, but recently went PRN as I am a licensed realtor as well now. I own 2 homes (both house hacks), and have another SFH and a duplex under contract right now.

House hack definitely to start and learn to take advantage of the flexibility of RN life to do big things in real estate. 

I plan to be RN "work" optional by 30 years old through financial independence

    @Marcos Walters Welcome to BP and congrats on becoming a nurse!

    I just hit my 3yr mark as an RN and have realized for myself that real estate will be a priority for me. As im sure that you have heard and that you will experience, is that there is a lot of "burn out" in nursing. So my plan is to make real estate/business my primary source of income, and allow nursing to be a passion and not a job. So here are my suggestions to you starting out in real estate and nursing at the same time. 

    - Take the time to focus on your new career; it will take time to learn and feel comfortable as a new nurse. So the first year should be focused on becoming the best and most competent nurse you can while learning about real estate in your free time. 

    - Hustle at your W2, work OT, create a budget, build up a savings, don't allow for the "income creep". 

    - Figure out what your goals are, personal and professional. Once you have your goals, formulate your plan to reach them.

    - Get a house hack (usually the best way to start, but make sure it is in line with your goals)

     Steve May is a great success story on doing work, being a realtor, and being an investor. Look to that as a roadmap for success.

    Steven, this is extremely inspirational to me. I hope to work as an RN through my own time one day. I never realized that financial freedom was even a concept until I read Rich Dad Poor Dad and then I slowly crept into real estate investing. I think the three days on and four days off offers me a bit of an advantage as far as time goes. Has being a realtor helped you a lot through the learning process and getting things rolling?
