No not because she had an affair, but because she's focusing full time on a Presidential run in 2012. She's burned her ships. There's something you need to understand about a woman like Sarah. When a woman like her gets attacked, she doesn't cower in hurt. She gets motivated. You can't win giving a person like this negative energy. They only convert it to motivation and the more you attack, the more you support them.

I couldn't disagree more and I can't wait for the chance to see it. Obama is as big of a joke as this country has ever seen.
From bowing down to the saudi king, to declaring that we are "Not a Christian nation", to disarming our military, to not not doing ANYTHING about north korea etc.
This guy is more of a national security risk then Bin Laden because he is killing our country from the inside.

I am really afraid that someone as unintelligent as Sarah Palin will be elected to the most important political position in the entire world.
The funny thing about this entire thread is that I haven't seen anyone try to make an assertion (with any evidence) that Sarah Palin is anything but inarticulate and unintelligent.
Instead, people are making the argument that it's okay to be unintelligent and be the most powerful person on the planet. Basically, people know that Sarah is an idiot, but are okay with it for some reason.
So, I guess that's the problem...
I believe that being unintelligent should be a disqualifier for being the most powerful person on the planet, but others here feel that being an idiot shouldn't disqualify you from that role.
Now I'm really terrified for the future of this country...

Ummm, when the McCain-Palin campaign propped him on the stage and made him part of the circus act?
Had they left him home, I doubt he would've enjoyed the same level of "celebrity".

You would not include your daughter's fiancee?
Not if they don't want media scrutiny. Did Darth Vader Cheney brought along his daughter and her (ahem) "partner" to campaign on the stage?
OTOH, for the campaign photo op he was "daughter fiancee" and now he suddenly became "deadbeat dad". My oh my how current events affect personalities... poor self proclaimed redneck sure went thru some transformation...

Ummmmm yeah that tends to happen when a man abandons his responsibilities to a child and a woman he claimed he would marry. Just ask Obama's mom.
Ummm, we were talking about your change in lingo Tim, and somehow you managed to bring Obama into it again. Like J Scott was saying, can you for a minute not drag him into any and every discussion where he doesn't belong? It may be YOUR ultimate argument but not necessarily valid
Here, for a change try to answer to the previous question regarding Cheney...

Come on Sorin, don't make me think for you. When he was on the campaign trail was when he was promising to marry her. Afterward is when he abandoned the promise. That's where the change in lingo comes in - with his change in character coming out.

I wasn't referring to Obama, but to his father. How does his father not belong in a discussion of deadbeat dads? He was the only other deadbeat dad figure involved in the last campaign.

"Great leaders are usually NOT the smartest people, they are people who surround themselves with other people smarter then them. Henry Ford is an excellent example. Bill Gates, while a smart guy did not create MS DOS, he bought it. I'm not a Bush fan but I can't help and laugh when people mention how dumb he is...if he is as dumb as you say, then how did he win twice against the "smart" guys? My answer to that is not to say he was smarter but that he had a better team to handle his campaign, which proves my point. You don't have to be the smartest guy to win or to lead this country."
___________________________________________________
OK, lets define smartness. Being smart is not the utmost amount of IQ, or having a infinite trivial knowledge or being able to make computer-like calculations. Raymond Babbitt, the autistic man played by Dustin Hoffman in "Rain Man" could do that.
Being smart is knowing (As oppose to thinking or wanting...) what your talents are and put your skills and knowledge into it.
Also, there is a great difference between really great leaders and leaders who are perceived to be great. (I.e. Ronald Reagan ... Oh, boy. I can see the avalanche coming... Another sacred cow is being slaughtered) Was Alexander the great smart? Yes, if you judge him by the alliances he created and his victories against the Persian army. But maybe not so, if your judgement is based on his underestimating of his own army's willingness to fight in India. Was Napoleon Bonaparte smart? Not if you judge him by the result of the battle on Waterloo... I guess you measure leaders by their body of work and not by a singular event regardless how detrimental it is to their own legacy.
If measuring a great leader, is by the leader's ability to chose the right team, don't you think that it requires smartness as well?
GW Bush was considered, back in 2000 to have chosen a great and experienced team, but soon we all learned that he chose a team that agreed with him. Anyone who disagreed, did not continue with the team (i.e. Colin Powell, Paul O'Neill, etc ) and that turned out to be also his pitfall. Not a smart move. The reason Bush won against Carry (His first victory still in question.) was because of cultural differences not substantive. Carry was considered elitist, detached from Middle America, Flip-flopper, and the swift boats campaign, which Bush didn't have anything to do with, was effective as well.

And that will be my cue to stop responding to the thread...

Don't let him get to you Jim. He's provided the mechanism to remove himself from the discussion.
Ahem.... OBAMA
There - I've brought up Obama in a thread that has nothing to do with him so that's his cue to stop posting.
Now back onto topic, check this out Jim. This was Sarah debating for the position of governor of Alaska. It's different when she's running on her own ideas and not playing second fiddle apologist to a bipartisancurious republican and having to explain it. Between becoming VP and resigning her position as Governor, I think being in John McCain's administration would have caused much greater damage to her political future. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIcUbyQiLWc&feature=PlayList&p=E00C8745B5EF202C&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=26

They will never get to me. I let their own words do the talking for me. All I have to do is point out what means what in english and what they dont seem to understand is "what is behind a question or statement".
And yes, I do believe that is what scares them so much about Sarah, her ability to absolutely destroy others in a debate. And the beginnings of a canadiate who understands how to watch over a border so that it means something!!!

Palin claims to align her national security agenda with Bush.
But didn't the most deadly terrorist attack on U.S. soil in history occur under Bush's watch?
He apparently couldn't do a very good job of keeping the country secure (and keeping terrorists out), so why do we think Palin would do a better job using the same agenda?
Personally, I want a President who can prevent attacks, not secure the border AFTER THE FACT. Bush couldn't do it, so I'm skeptical Palin can, given that she endorses the same security agenda.

Someone's ignoring his self-applied pavlovian bell to stop responding. But since he can't help himself I wonder that while writing this if J Scott ever stopped to think that it was under Clinton that the 9/11 hijackers got into the country and took flying lessons...even after Al Qaeda's first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 under his watch.... I don't seem to recall Bush letting terrorists take flying lessons in Florida after 9/11.

Dream on. For a short list of President who couldn't prevent attacks we have: George Washington, James Madison, James Garfield, Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, William McKinley, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.

The mainstream media is really spinning this Palin resignation. Can we once and for all agree that Palin is NOT a quitter! I think everyone knows this except for maybe the socialist elitist media.
Bristol's baby Daddy is just a punk. Yeah Bristol left him, but he DESERVED it. She is a real maverick like her mother. This is why you must teach abstinence in the home!

If the border had been watched over by those in power, then the hijackers never could have overstayed their permission to be in the country. The open border policy and the not exporting those illegals that are found within the borders started on whose watch??
Care to guess. Now go back and investigate who closed down the immigration requirements that were in place for those who wished to become US residents. There was a test they had to pass before they were granted citizenship. Most today can not pass that test!!!!

Ummmm...No.
The woman used Federal and Local funds to hold a campaign for political office, and once elected, was entrusted with carrying out her duties as an elected official.
She chose to stop carrying out those duties for no good reason.
She wasn't moving to a more important political office where she could better serve her constituency (a good reason); she didn't have a family emergency that required her attention (a good reason); her life wasn't in danger if she continued in office (a good reason); her constituency didn't ask her to leave (a very good reason).
She signed up to represent her constituency. She stopped doing the job without any input from her constituency (or a good reason).
By definition, she QUIT.
And by definition, that makes her a QUITTER.
I'm sorry if that hurts your sensibilities, but it really is a pretty simple concept.

So, because things happened prior to that administration's taking office, the fault lies in the previous administration?
By that reasoning, I guess that the entirety of the current financial crisis is the fault of the previous administration?
Could the current administration have done stuff in the past 6 months to start rectifying the financial crisis? I'm guessing you'd say yes.
So, again, by the same logic, the previous administration could have done something the first 9 months to avert the terrorist attacks.

As one who had to take the test (And passed... ) I must ask, how many American-born could take that test and pass?...Not too many....
Unfortunately, there were (and are) too many children left behind....
