I think we're all missing the big point here, and that is that those members who are most active on the site are generally benefiting MUCH more from it than those of you who do not interact or engage.
In the 5+ years that BP has been around, this has ALWAYS been the case. Those members who are the most visible are typically those who are making moves as a result of BP.

I could not agree more Josh.
In fact, that statement should be at the top of each page right under the BP blog last post.
You heard it here first Josh.

There is one reason for that Steve: Jon is on here everyday as he is the main moderator for Josh and company and I have had very low activety on the site for the last 2 months.
I have been so busy making money with my rehabs here in So CAL, I have had no time for BP (or very little). Its good to see someone else at the top anyways.
Good for you Jon, keep it up.
As Josh so eliquently mentioned, those who are the most active on the site, benefit the most and all of us major contributors can attest to that fact. That should be a wake-up call for all new-comers and those who are not on here as much as they should be. There is a wealth of info here and it is FREE!

Will,
I was just trying to see whether you were travelling, or too busy - and whether this would lead to a burst of postings from you like last time, when Rich overtook the number 1 spot :D

Congrats to all that have passed me. I knew 6 months ago I didn't have the time to compete in # of posts, but I'm giving it all today!
2 hour drive to airport, 2 hour flight to Cancun, 3 hours in dentist chair for 1 implant, 2 previous implants measures for the crowns, 1 molar rebuilt and prepared for crown and a chip fixed. Groggy, on pills and instead of out on the balcony looking at the Caribe below, I'm posting on BP. I deserve 3K points per post tonite due to my giving it my all!! Rich on the beach for a week.

Rich,
Don't expect us all to pass the kleenex boxes - you are in Cancun after all!!! :)
Be that as it may, going to the dentist is never any fun, in Cancun or not.

But let's not forget that a points leader does not necessarily mean an influence leader.
There are people like me out here that read and learn and reply to many (sometimes incorrectly) who have good numbers but my influence is only in a small niche area that I concentrate in.
Do not take someone's word as gospel just because of their numbers. They may be just repeating things that they misunderstood.

Ted,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. If only it were that easy. As Rich Weese can tell you, the energy and the activity level he had to put in (to overtake the others above him) is a LOT of work; he and I PM'd a bit about it because he had set a much lower goal, but worked it to the point of taking that #1 spot. My initial post to start this thread was a sort of commendation to him for that, since I was aware he had only set a somewhat lower goal and exceeded it dramatically. Only when Rich eased up and started back to traveling was I able to catch him.
Both Jon Holdman and Will Barnard are highly active, and well respected among the membership; I don't think I'll be passing either of them unless they just stop participating.
Being ranked in the top 10 is nothing to be ashamed of  ... and it's certainly better than being in the bottom 10.
