JScott,
If you're so compelled to discuss healthcare why not start a new thread? Where you've taken this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with the initial point of the thread.
The original oath does not support socialism at all, but expects the learner to treat the teacher as it would their parents and their children, as if they were their own. And to teach them (their children and his own children) the profession free of charge. That is the only ones who are taught free of charge, not anyone who wants it!!!!!!!
And we also see that from those you tought as taking the new oath, according to NOVA over 50% of them believe that the oath is for traditional purposes only and they are not bound by that oath.
So if they are not accountable for the oath, why take such an oath to begin with? Kind of makes the pledge null and void doesnt it? But I guess that is what they wanted with the Ambigious wording anyways.
You also stated that
Again a misrepresentation of the original intent. It is not a socialist organization but a respected family tradition where it would be passed to your family members which includes that of your teachers family as if it were your family.
Now that the twists of the wording has been exposed, lets get back to the original thought.
Why should Tim, or anybody, not carry a gun, which is their right.?
I can only find one reason and that is the thought that government will protect us. But we all know how often we can find that policeman right next to us when we are confronted with the immediate situation of needing their protection.
Since we cant rely upon being protected by the government when needed, we must be able to protect ourselves accordingly.
As long as people respond to his socialist trolling, he'll keep destroying threads. I regret my one reply to his trolling in this thread.
Jeffrey, I can't argue with you on the .45 as a self-defense gun. It is certainly is at the top of the "one shot stop" data ALONG WITH THE .40 S & W. One thing that is clear is that the 9mm is one step below the .40 or .45 in one shot stops, which is why police departments are increasingly using the .40 or .45. The .40 and .45 consistently show about a 5% increase in one shot stops in the real world. I posted recent data in another post and here's another (older) study. They all show the same thing: .40 and .45 are the most effective rounds for stopping criminals.
Regarding concealed carry it all seems to be a COMPROMISE.
Better knockdown = bigger gun = harder concealment, etc.
I've recently been considering the Smith & Wesson 642 five shot .38 special as a primary because it slips in the front pocket. If you've ever lived in the South you know that summer wear = cargo shorts plus t-shirts.
