Horrifying. I have heard from all the friends and family that I know were at the Marathon, and they are all safe. One was working security at the finish line, and is ok, and home.
It's surreal that something like this happened in my backyard. My day job is in Boston but likely I took the day off to be with my family. I'm driving into Boston now (at a stop light) and can already tell that it's not going to be a normal work day. I was just passed by 10 police cars from suburban towns traveling into Boston and there are a handful of helicopters in the air.
When the first tower was hit I said Bin Laden. On patriot's day, I said a far right domestic type. While they are now saying the two letters intercepted are not related, they certainly can be as being connected by members of a group.
We don't change how we live from these incidents, I think it makes us all more determined to not fear any group with greater resolve against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
My thoughts and prayers are with those victims as well and praise those who acted in response. Thank your service members and first responders for doing what they do. :)
