We put a brand new hvac system in including all new duct work and ventilation. it was a 90%efficient furnace with a 2t AC we spent about 6,500 this house was a lil less than 1000 sq ft
Another house we just replaced old furnace and added an 3t ac with a 80 %efficient furnace this cost was about $5.5k . this house was larger too almost 3000 sq ft
These numbers are from Denver Colorado and through small hvac companies.

Here is what I would budget if I were you:
New furnace only, about $1800.
New furnace, air coil, and condenser, about $3500.
Entire new HVAC system, including ductwork, up to $6000.
