Hey, is anyone taking advantage of the 10% discount Home Depot offers to those who've served or are currently serving our country? Please share your story.
@Chris A. my card is a bank issued debit card for my business account. When I swipe it the systems flags the transaction. The cashier either removes the military discount or I have to use a personal card. Happens with the bank debit and credit card. I guess the system knows my LLC didn't serve.
Ahh, yeah that definitely makes sense lol. I don't see any difference if that is the case, but that's a company decision I suppose. Is it like that at both Home Depot and Lowe's?
Yes. I have done 2 rehab and rent duplexes and use the discount. I also couple that with a 3% cash back credit card and try and shop all the clearance items I can. Even if both sides of the duplex do not match, I will buy items off the clearance shelf + 10% discount + 3% cash back equals a pretty hefty savings for my wallet. Another good option is to order Amazon Prime and save on clearance items and shipping. Lastly, I also use the price comparison at Home Depot plus the military discount. I sound like a 1930's coupon clipper but the savings really add up when buying appliances!

Also, the $500 limit can be side stepped if you go in the evening when no one is there. They will let you ring up separately in $500 incriments.
This thread seems a bit old, but I wanted to add that, yes, Home Depot does give a Veteran a discount, active or not. Thank you so much. I did save money and will in the future!
I finished active duty in 2008 and I still use my (now expired) card at Home Depot constantly. The manager told me it was for "veterans and active duty", so I don't think it is an issue. I definitely don't look active anymore with a huge winter beard, but I just pull out my regular driver's license and the military ID card side by side so they can see my name on both and have never had an issue--even when they have to get manager approval because the discount was over $50.
Is there not a way to consolidate cards or transfer a balance from one card to another? Or, could you not take your seller to the register and buy a new gift card with an existing gift card and then the seller would have no access to the new cards details? You could then shop at your liesure that day or another?
