It looks like there used to be real estate meet up in Des Moines, IA at Caribou coffee, is this still going on? If not is anyone interested in starting a new one? I am brand new on here, just looking to get into real estate.
That one is still going on. We are starting a new meetup as well. First meeting is next Thursday at the Des Moines Social Club, 6-9pm. Brad Neal, a property manager with Renter's Warehouse will be speaking!

Welcome! That meet up is still going on and we have another meetup on the 20th. Last month the group met in a different location and I'm not sure if that will be the same spot this month or we will go back to the coffee shop. I'll find out and reply back when I have an answer.

If there are subsequent events where would be the best place to find and track those events? I was unable to make it last night, and see this event didn't make it on the Social Club Calendar of events.

Yes I did. Sorry for the delay. We have been searching for a new spot that would better accommodate the meeting but for this month we will be going back to Ingersoll Tap. See below for the location info. I will bring along a sign that says Bigger Pockets Meet Up and place it at our table/area.

Yes, you can go to the BP Events page and search Des Moines IA and you'll see the DSM Real Estate Investing Meetup or check out meetup dot com. You'll find the event there as well.

It's the third Thursday of every month @ 6pm at Ingersoll Tap in Des Moines. I went for the first time last month. I'd estimate there was 25 people there, maybe more. Just inside the entrance at the high top tables. People meandered in about 6:15 pm. There is also a FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) meet up the first Wednesday of the month (THAT'S TODAY!) at 6 pm at the Starbar in Des Moines at 6 pm. I believe tonight is the very first meeting for that.

Thank you, Anthony. Third Thursday of this month would render it the 21st ... unfortunately I am out of town for a extended climbing trip that week. Will try to make the next one happen. Can't do FIRE tonight either as negotiating face-to-face with a private seller for a Drake rental property. - BH

Let me know how your negotiations go tonight! I am looking for a 3-4 plex in the Drake area. I own a duplex in Ankeny and would love another property in Ankeny, but they are a bit expensive (plus the property tax). And if that seller has more properties, really let me know asap! And if that seller is doing seller financing, I'll be right over! Lol.

It's still at Ingersol Tap the third Thursday of every month, 6-8 pm or so.
Also, there is a new group meeting up for FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early). It's not a real estate group, but real estate is discussed among some people. The next mtg is July 11 at 6 pm, at Gravitate, 318 5th St., West Des Moines. There will be a guest speaker at that meeting, also a round table discussion, and is the second mtg for that new group.
