What is with the new "Networking" icon? What is it supposed to be doing?

For years, the "Notification" icon, which looks like a bell, has told me if someone reached out, sent me a DM or responded to my post. Recently there is a "Networking" icon that looks like two people.

When I get a blue dot on Notifications, it is clear why. When I get a blue dot on Networking, it is just a list of people. Nothing appears actionable or interesting.

Can anyone explain the purpose of this new icon? If it is not useful, can I turn it off?

Hi Greg and Richard, thanks for flagging this. The Network icon is the entry point to the new Network page, where you can see activity from people you follow and manage your connections, followers, and following. The blue dot shows up when there's new activity from people you follow (Activity tab) or a pending connection request (Connections tab).

If you'd rather not see activity updates, unfollowing people you don't want updates from will stop the Activity dot.

Well, I already asked about it in the Questions about BP and official announcements forum about a week ago...and still no response. Nobody home I guess. I just want to turn off the annoying blue dot, since as you said it tells you nothing.

Love the feedback. Totally agree that there's no clear linking between what was new and the cards on the feed. We're going to be working on an updated version of our feed on both the web and mobile app (which is new, available on both the apple app store and google play store).

So all those people I've connected with over the years, every time they do something on BP, I get a blue dot on the Networking section? I've never "followed" anyone.

I looked at the list of people. Some of the names I know because they are frequent posters. Most I have no memory of them, but I can unconnect from them.

I was wondering if I was missing anything. I would call this feature more of an annoyance than a benefit.

Also, what is with all the blog posts invading the forums??? You tried that two years ago and we all hated it. (still do!)
