The BiggerPockets Facebook Page as of now only has 1,385 followers. Given our community of 62,000 and the 180,000+ monthly visitors to our site, I think we can do a whole lot better!
We use the BP Facebook account to share our recent top articles, great forum discussions, important real estate news and, of course, important insight on BP. We also use it to communicate with you when there are any problems with the site or if there are any other important announcements.

Biggerpockets is a better marketing platform than facebook will ever be. Biggerpockets enables brand advertising that facebook "marketers" should aspire to.
Facebook should be giving Biggerpockets their marketing demo information, not the other way round.

Mike - I'm not a huge fan either, but it is the place that a vast number of people spend their time online. The more visibility we can get there, the better; more visibility means more visitors, more members, more people to partner with, more great content and so on.
The best way to get that visibility is for people to "Like" our Facebook page, to share our forums, discussions, articles, blogs, etc., and to promote BiggerPockets there.

When we tracked stats daily on our old website Facebook was the only site that pulled better than BP. Facebook actually passed Google in popularity last year...crazy...I know.
I'm not a fan of it either, but that is how BP can pull more folks.

Facebook is FAR behind other sources for us, but that's the problem. Given that FB is a portal where people tend to hang out, it is also a great place to find new members.
Last spring it surpassed Google for the first time in terms of traffic, so likewise, we should be focusing more of our efforts on attracting some of the people who spend their time over there.
But - to do that, we really need the help of our supporters.
I've got a few ideas that I'm working on that may incentivize those people who require such things, but beyond that, I do hope the folks who are active users here and FB will be sure to connect with us there.

About 20 minutes ago we had a situation where we had to reboot the BP servers. Our Facebook and Twitter fans all got a message letting them know what was happening . . .

Maybe you can start some FB threads about real estate Josh. Something like...."What was your first RE deal like?"...or some such. That may be used as bait to pull some folks to BP.
