Real Estate Investor Looking for new Connections

Hey!

I am new to BP, but have been in the real estate investing world since 2014 in the Oklahoma City and Edmond areas. I currently own 7 long term rentals and counting. I recently had a career change to focus more into the real estate and would like to connect with local investors/ agents. Possibly looking to get my license as well.

I have seen a few posts on Meetup, but would like all of the recommendations I can get.

Hi! Welcome to BiggerPockets and thanks for joining!

Here are some tips for networking and making the most of your account.

1) I'd fill out your profile fully before you do anything else! As that will at least help folks that you reach out to know that you are a real person, with a picture and professional bio. Particularly be sure to include your goals for real estate investing so that folks can help you.

2) Go to the Search bar, and look for some local members in your area! Reach out to a few of the folks, perhaps those with hundreds or thousands of posts in this forum, and connect. You can do that here.

3) Check out some of the local meetups that you can find in this forum! There are so many so be sure to filter by your location.

4) Review this comprehensive 64 page deck on the state of the 2023 housing market (in your resource page as a member of BiggerPockets!) for real estate investors put together by Dave Meyer and available for all BiggerPockets members.

5) Consider meeting with a few agents in your area even if you are just getting started! An investor friendly agent can do all sorts of helpful things, like setting you up with a search for properties or connecting you with folks who have recently done deals like the ones you want to do.

6) Consider analyzing a deal or two in your local market, just for practice, with a free use of our Rental Property Calculator (or other calculators).

several local groups from bp around as well as a few that are not associated with this site. a few are worthwhile. I hear that Millionaire possibilities is still a great meeting to network at. also watch for a few other folks doing bp groups on facebook there are a couple that are pretty good. look up wholesalers in okc on facebook too a few good groups there. always happy to jump on a call or meet up and discuss the local market if you like.

Welcome to BP!

There are a lot of good meetup groups happening right now. The first of the month is a pretty popular time. You probably saw Coffee with Investors and Rhett mentioned MP Reia. Both of these are great for networking and will be on meetup.com. I would definitely try to hit both of those events this next week. You'll probably end up making plenty of connections there that can direct you to other networking events.

There is a pretty regular BP meetup that happens at different breweries. If you are on FB look for real estate networking events. There is usually at least one investor happy hour a week. I can't keep up with all of the different dates/locations, but they're pretty easy to find on FB events. If you join some of the OKC based FB groups for real estate investors and you'll start seeing the events!
