Looking to Network with Cleveland Investors

Hey BP, 

I'm looking to get active in the Cleveland/near Cleveland markets this year and I'm interested in networking with other local investors. 

What local real estate groups/meetups would you recommend? I'm also looking to connect with others on BP as well.

I greatly appreciate any thoughts.

@Benjamin Sulka There are a few meetups on Eventbrite, meetup and BP meetups. The one at Pins hosted by Greenly Mortgage is good. I can send you a list

    I'm also interested in the Cleveland area as an aspiring investor. I would be especially interested in learning more about property managers in the Cleveland Area which seems attractive for cash

     I have extensive experience there doing about 500 deals, nothing I have not done or not know about all of the Cleveland markets. However, you need to be cash to get the best deals. I was in town last week, picked up 9 more doors. 

    Its ALL about knowledge and your team

     I am putting a possible investment under contract today in Cleveland and would love to meet up and chat. I own a few investments in the Ooltewah / Chattanooga area. This will be my first in Cleveland.

    I am in Columbus, OH but am looking to network myself.  Certain colleges that you can gain your agent license with will have a Career Day where a ton of brokerages will be, and I believe Davis College to be one of them.  They are there to network, provide sponsorship and answer general questions.  I am always looking for new individuals to network with, lets talk.

     What parts of Cleveland are you buying in right now?


     Im not Bob, but I will say invest everywhere in Cleveland. There are F grade areas that are getting money pushed into it that will make them prosper. Talk with local investors and see what they are doing. Reach out to PMCs and see what they say about certain areas.

     Hey Ben! Have you read any of the BiggerPockets books? I think that is a good place to start along with going to local meet ups like you posted about. Check meetup.com and local Facebook groups. Cleveland has a lot.

    Hey Benjamin, I recommend checking out real estate investor Facebook groups for networking, it's great for meeting GCs, PMs, lenders, and any other people you may want to add to your team and possibly finding off-market deals as well. If you're looking into the Columbus Ohio market, I run a Columbus Ohio real estate investor Facebook group with over 1,500 members. Would love to send you more information on it!

    I personally have 8+ units in Cleveland and more in Columbus and my team primarily helped me to make the managing of these properties easier. Let me know if you need any help in finding a good neighborhood to start on.

     I'm into the Lakewood area recently but in Cleveland, anything on the West side is practically a good place to invest in. Cudell is also getting some attention.

    Lakewood checks all the boxes regarding location. The homes have extremely small lots but that saves on landscaping cost/time.
    Their market must have become aware of how good they are as the same homes that went for $175k now go for well over $300k Also, MLS inventory in Lakewood is less than 15 homes. Supply and demand ;(

    Lakewood Park is one my favorites.

    I'm grateful for your response. 

    As a fresh college grad, I don't have the cash reserves to fund an entire deal with cash. I'm going to take out a loan.

    What are your thoughts on buying properties in Cleveland with a loan? I'm looking to do an owner occ for my first deal because this is the most feasible way for me to take my first step in REI. Additionally, do you have any tips on building a solid team considering your extensive experience?

    I'd appreciate any thoughts.
