Chatrooms for Real estate investors

Chatrooms for Real estate investors

Real Estate Investor · Philadelphia, PA · Member since 2009 · 57 posts · 5 votes

Hello BP members,

Does anyone know of any chatrooms for real estate investors?
Is there a chatroom that hosts discussions with a good number of people on a regular basis??

I checked out weekendmillionaire dot com as someone suggested but they only hold their chats once a month. Any other recommendations? -Brandon

It would probably help to have a link to the chatroom in a prominent place in the navigation. Maybe better than list status for each user, you could simply show how many people are currently in the chatroom. I might also suggest that you use a chat application based on IRC. For those of us who are chat junkies, IRC is a nice option. I'd be willing to assist in a chatroom upgrade project if you like.

We've got a chat tool on the site, but no one to organize the chats right now. If you're interested in setting one up, I'm sure we'd have plenty of people interested.

I think this ought to be a primary part of the site. There are plenty of good investors and good sellers out there who need an easy way to get together. For instance, I am winding up some inventory and in today's electronic world it's hard to get the word out that there are great deals on new homes, not just foreclosures and junk.

Josh, maybe you could get something on the homepage.

Joshua- I have a feeling you're right about how much interest a chatroom would generate. But in terms of setting it up I think I'm better off leaving it to the techies...
Jim- Your comment(s) are testimony to what Josh and myself are saying. We could all really benefit from interacting in real-time.

We've got an OLD - low-budget chat available on the site at: chat, but if there's more interest, perhaps we need to look at taking it to the next level . . .

    Anyone else?

I think the chat room that is up right now is good, maybe just no one going on?

I've looked high and low and I have to hand it to Joshua Dorkin and his team! This IS the best place online for Investors to chat, Q&A, learn and create relationships.

The main key is for online contact to become personal relationships.

Then it looks like if a small icon could be displayed next to everyones user name that indicates that they are online or in the chatroom perhaps others might become more aware and begin to use the chat feature......??

Thanks for the suggestion, Brandon . . . we will definitely be looking deeper into the technology to better our chat capability.

Until then, we still have the chatroom I mentioned earlier.

I second the need for the ability to see if people are online. This feature would be great.

i was just in the (current) chat room and I don't think there is anything wrong with it at all.
I think we should schedule some times for people to be in there and see how it goes. If you are finding that people are complaining about the functionality of it, then look into upgrading it. In my opinion, it's just fine the way it is.

I second that! Mike and I were just chatting in there and it worked great.
My recommendation is to have some type of icon or logo next to each users name when active in the chat room as Brandon suggested and also do some marketing/announcements to everyone on BP to let them know it is available and active.

I noticed that there were some scheduled chats listed there, are those active and taking place, or something still in the works?

It looks pretty good! It just needs a few more of the bells and whistles to evolve it into a another amazing BP tool that we are blessed with from Josh and his crew!

BP has set the bar pretty high, and we are so spoiled! :D

For a while we were doing the scheduled chats until I became . . . shall we say . . . overwhelmed?

Until a new generation of BP chat comes together, we can certainly do the scheduled chats . . . we just need a few people to take the lead on them.

    Any interested parties?

What does "Take the lead on them" involve?

I'm no techie, but love to chat. I'd try to be there at scheduled times or when others are in chat room.

    Me too Rich.

What does "Take the lead on them" involve Josh?

I am pretty confident that we can get a good group together for this.

While my schedule is very crazy, I would have no problem committing to at least one chat a week to help it grow.

I'd be interested in being there also, but I'm no techie...

    Hey guys:
All that is involved is for someone to take charge for certain days of the week. The chat is always live. So . . . if we can agree to chat on Monday's at 6pm EST about rehabbing, someone would agree to moderate or lead the chat. We could then promote that day/chat and hopefully see who shows up!

    Sounds good.
I am in to moderate on a subject each week/month.
How do we proceed from here?

Pick a subject/day of the week and we'll give it a go.
