Keen, young investor from Adelaide, Australia

My name is Alex Gaggini, I am 18 years old and as you may be able to guess by my age I have no experience in real estate!! I do however hope to change this and whilst doing some research I came across bigger pockets and signing up is my first step into what I hope is a successful real estate journey!

I live in Adelaide, Australia and am hoping to come across investors in the local area.

In the next year or so I am hoping to buy a single family property and building on from there.

Are you looking to purchase in USA or Australia? Spend a lot of time reading through forums on BP and you will find a lot of very helpful information.

@Sharad M. At this stage I will look to get a foothold in the Australian market but I definitely want to keep my options open for the future.

@Jerry W. Thankyou for the advice, I'll definitely take it! There's so much to learn I have some serious reading to do.

my home town !!!

When we were visiting in 2010 I met with several young kids who had bought homes & then rented their spare rooms to cover the very high cost of home buying entry.

Do you ever frequent the propertyinvestingforum.com in AU.. ? not nearly as active on the US stuff. It used to be but it has about died.. Lots of US spuiekers and Aussie spruiekers on there so one has to be careful. Same here, US is not AU when it comes to investing and getting told the straight story your job will be to find the right people.

No Alex sadly we disposed of everything in 2011.

But North Adelaide was my stomping grounds during the '70's as I resided @ Lincoln College during my years @ Adelaide Uni. We got into student housing in the 'seedy' parts of Adelaide. Now student housing is everywhere & the seedy parts are demanding 6-7 figures.

The Cap. App. opportunities you have there today are amazing & I would definitely 'try' & buy anything along the esplanades. In 2011 I tried to talk my wife into a home 1 block from the water (Largs Bay) but she didn't appreciate me living there for 6 months of rehab.

Adelaide is a gem.

Welcome to Bigger Pockets! I have family in Adelaide and been trying to talk them into investing in real estate. So far, they've been researching what they can but I'm not sure how much progress they've made. I'd love to have investment properties in Australia. Keep in touch and we'll see about working together in the future.

Welcome Alex. There are a lot of super helpful people and great advice on this site! I’m a ‘fix and hold’ investor from the Bay Area in CA, and loving it! A lot of others doing flips, wholesaling, notes, everything.. A few tips..
