Hello - New to RE investing and seeking guidance/knowledge

Profile has a more detailed description of my history. Been doing a lot of research the last 2 months, trying to think of pros and cons of each of the investment approaches and what is right for me: raw land flip, SFH flip, slow flip, BRRRR, small multifamily, commercial tenant or storage. Looking for some short term wins for cash flow, while also building a portfolio for long term appreciation and cash flow.

Appreciate any input why others may have taken a certain approach.  I feel like analysis paralysis will never get a deal started and realize I will make mistakes along the way.  That's part of the new adventure.

Glad to join the community.

Ben

    Welcome to the group!

As you begin your journey into real estate investing, it’s important to lay a strong foundation, starting with two often-overlooked pillars: tax planning and asset protection. While finding great deals is exciting, neglecting these areas early on can limit your growth and expose you to unnecessary risk.

A well-crafted tax strategy allows you to maximize deductions, structure your investments efficiently, and keep more of what you earn. Proactive planning not only reduces your tax liability but also creates more room for long-term financial flexibility.

Just as important is putting solid asset protection measures in place. Real estate can expose you to legal and financial challenges, from tenant disputes to creditor claims. The right structures can shield your personal assets, limit liability, and strengthen your position in any potential legal matter. This isn’t just about avoiding loss—it’s about investing with peace of mind.

To set yourself up for success, consider working with professionals who specialize in real estate, such as a tax advisor and asset protection attorney who understand your goals and risk tolerance. Having the right team from the outset can save you time, money, and future headaches.

Wishing you success, security, and peace of mind on your investment journey!
