New member from the Chicago area (Far West Suburbs )

Hey there everybody. I am in the far west Chicago suburb of St Charles. Own some SFR rentals and have recently done a couple of rehab/flips as well (did I do that in the wrong order?), all in the surrounding 10-15 miles from home. I am looking to learn more about alternate financing options for rentals, as well as additional ways to find deals. Also general landlording information is always welcome, and I have been reading some of that already tonight. Still looking to increase that rental pool, as well as complete a few more flips. No high volume stuff for me.

I look forward to meeting people here and sharing ideas in both directions. Seems like a great place to give and get info!

    Sounds like you have some great experience that you can bring to biggerpockets.  That's great.

    Don't forget to listen to the podcasts - they are a wealth of information.

    A great way to find deals is through networking - it may be a bit far for you to come in, but @Brie Schmidt organizes a regular meetup of real estate investors in the Chicago area.

    We are low volume, high price tenants. We are buy and hold investors in single class A real estate, which allows us to invest while working full time! We self manage from all over the country as we invest locally and long distance. We are able to do very well within our small margins as we focus heavily on good landlord practices and cost control.

    Don't forget to check out the blogs and podcasts. Participating in the forum is a great way to network, learn and give back. Another GREAT resource is everyone's signature. MANY of us, including myself have put together a blog/website about our niche, strategy and business model. Think of them as "free" books. These are GREAT free resources too!

    Just sold my flip in Streamwood on Wednesday. I guess I have been driving very close by for much of the summer :-) Thanks for the welcome!
