Hello, 

My name is Scott Long, and I am just getting started in the real estate industry. I have been remodeling houses for a few years now, and I want to find networking opportunities around my area so that I may begin investing wisely.

    How extensive is your remodeling experience? Do you work strictly in East STL?

    Hey Warren, 

    Thank you, and honestly I am interested in all aspects of real estate investing. I feel that rental properties would be a great start, find a descent place to fix up and start making a return ASAP. 

    I have about 3 years in remodeling, and I am capable of performing routine maintenance and general updates. Anything I do not know, my good friend who has about 10+ years in carpentry/remodeling shows me what to do. 

    I am willing to work about a 30 mile radius from East STL.

    @Scott Long Welcome to the fold, Scott. Sounds like you've got a good background and support for starting out as a landlord -- those practical skills come in handy. Are you investing in East St. Louis itself? You said a 30 mile radius, curious what areas that includes on the Illinois side.

    It sounds like you have  great background. From what I've read rehabbing is pretty popular in your area. Get plugged in with some other investors from STL, and I'm sure you'll learn a ton here!

    @Scott Long Welcome to BP!   You should connect with @Rich Groves.   He does a lot of wholesaling on the east side of the river.   He is a great guy and I am actually partnering with him on a fix and flip at the moment.   He always has lots of great off market wholesale properties that need a bit a work but would make great rentals!

    Thanks for the encouragement. I haven't started investing yet, but I do plan on working with both sides of the river. In Illinois I'd say it'd be around belleville, Offalon, Milstadt, Waterloo, and the small communities around them. 

    There is a bunch of information, and I was in the learning section for hours yesterday. Keep on learning and someday soon hopefully find a good place to begin investing.

    Thanks everyone for the welcoming words. The site is amazing! The are so many informative topics, and I'm reading as much as possible. I'm grateful to of found such a place that is willing to give great advice.
