Hello everyone!
My name is Ty and I'm very interested in becoming a real estate investor. I've been very passionate about real estate investing for a very long time now and now I feel like I have the courage to finally go out and do it. I currently now live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I would love to be able to meet some like-minded investors and beginners and see how they go out and get deals. So with that said where do I begin how do I get started when is the next meet up in Charlotte, North Carolina. Looking forward to becoming the next success story.
@Tyrell Yerby Hey love to see the passion. As a young investor the best thing you can do is just get out and network.
My friend @Alex Franks says, even if you have to setup table or get water glasses or whatever, just be present with as many people as possible. (Check out his podcast at http://goo.gl/DJs2ED). Get to every network meetings early and plan on staying late. As you are trying to get to know as many people as possible, you should be the last person to leave an event, after you have insisted on helping in anyway possible.
Ask questions, and keep notes. Every time someone uses a term that you don't understand or does a deal that doesn't make since to you, is an opportunity to learn. After the discussion approach the person and ask for clarity on the terminology they used, or why they structured a deal a certain way. Most will openly discuss these questions. (Some people won't and that's ok too..)
Lastly, start reading! Like today. You should be able to have a book read a week. (Audiobooks count here too..) I suggest 10x Rule as a great start!
You've come to the right place for a wealth of information. There are meet ups just about everyday of the week. If you search meetup.com under real estate investor you will find several groups. The top ones in Charlotte are Metrolina Charlotte REIA and Hobby Millionaire. There are several people here from those groups.
Hi Ty and welcome! I encourage you to participate in the forums - ask and answer questions, everybody has something to offer. Be sure to search for various topics that are of interest to you. Inevitably, your question will most likely question have been asked before and you can find oodles of resources on BP at your fingertips. Keep coming to the meetings too - you will always learn something you did not know before and it pays to stay engaged and continue developing relationships. See you around the QC!

I really Like What this group @Bonnie Laslo@Curtis Waters@Edward Peugh are doing for newer and advanced folks. This is not just a meet up group but a get involved group. I am not tied to any groups but this group will make sure you are being active in real estate. @Gaither Hendrix talk to this man as he is fairly new in this area but very motivated and is growing quick in this business.

Hey @Tyrell Yerby, I am also getting started myself. Great job getting involved and attending the meet ups and joining BP. Plenty of resources on here as @Brandon Turner mentioned and the course he recommended is a great place to start. The education on here is great. Podcasts are very informative so definitely tune in to those and the live webinars as well (if you don't have access to the archived ones).
