New To Real Estate from Shreveport La area

Hi! My name is Lashayla Johnson from Shreveport, La. I'm a new member on here and I'm also new to the real estate world. Im currently a nurse but I've always been interested in real estate but have had a "fear" of getting started. I've currently just finished a real estate agent class and am waiting to sit for my state exam to be licensed. I'm interested in wholesaling and rehabbing and learning anything else that I come across that may be interesting.

Hey LaShayla, welcome to BP and real estate investing. There are actually a couple of local real estate investor meet-ups that get together once a month. The first group is SBREIA (Shreveport Bossier Real Estate Investor's Association). It is an educational group that has a different speaker come in and talk on a specific topic. It's a great way to learn different aspects of investing and real estate in general. We will be getting together tomorrow at 6:00pm at Piccadilly's in St. Vincent Mall. The second group is RE360, a social networking group that gets together and talks shop. We will be meeting this Thursday at 6:00pm at Zocolo's in Shreveport. We'd love it if you can make it to one or both meet-ups. It's a fantastic way to meet like-minded individuals and dive right into this real estate game! Let me know if you have any questions along the way.

Dustin and LaShayla, My name is Joe Young. I saw LaShayla's post because of having the word "Shreveport" as a keyword in my alerts. I too have wanted to get into real estate investing for many years but have not taken action until lately. My doctor told me that 99% blockage due mostly to stress almost killed me without warning. Life is short. It's time to take action. May my wife and I attend as well?

This site is a great site to get you over that fear with all the information that you could have a get from other people that are in the trenches doing the work you want to be doing! The people that you talk to on this site have most likely have already seen already what you are asking and deploy their experience to answer your questions.

Joe Young Hi Joe! I'm so sorry to hear about your medical problem and I'm glad that you're still here to take action on what you really want to do in life. I've been a nurse and have been wanting to do real estate for years now but I never took action until now as well. Good luck on your journey and much success to you. I plan on going to the meeting and bringing my mom so maybe I will see you there!
