This situation really has me peeved. I'm trying to look at both sides of the coin, but Russia is really seeming to take things too far in their aggression. It seems like they are just trying to flex their muscles to show the world that they are back . . . ok, we get it.
What does everyone think about what is happening in the former Soviet state?

I have a guy I was in the USMC with, He is Cuban, she is Polish, they just had a baby. I look foreward to the christening. Its fun to watch the two sides of the world interact.

Are you saying that we should just allow Russia to continue bullying their neighbors? Should we allow them to violate international borders, should we allow them to violate cease-fire agreements?
I'd like it a lot better if the European countries would deal with it. It's their backyard, not ours.
I get really tired of the USA being the policeman for the entire world.
Europe is propsperous because they don't have to pay for any defense systems. They just expect the States to defend them, and at the same time, they hate America for it and do a lot of whining about USA aggression--- except when it is their own bacon that needs to be pulled out of the fire, and then they are all "Where's the United States? Why doesn't America take care of this?"

I agree. Sadly, though, history has shown that Europe either can't or doesn't have the will to stand up when situations like this present themselves.
Countries in Eastern Europe are really shaken by all of this and they should be pressing for action from their neighbors/allies. Lets see what happens.
To anyone who says that we're to blame here, just read Saturday's article. Russia is planning on annexing South Ossetia. As Europe and the West watched, Russia just grabbed its first colony of the new century.

Georage was attacked as a slap in the face to us. The Russians were pissed that we tried to get them into Nato (if we had been successful, this never would have happened). So they were waiting for a chance to regain some control.
Currently they are accusing us of delivering weapons, kind of the same way they are selling modren weapon systems to Iran.
This is the main reason we need to get the WORLD off oil. If not for the gas and oil, Iran and Russa would all be too broke to do the kind of things they are doing.
