Not to stir the pot too much, but let's look at who really benefits from the immigrant problem.

1. Business owners who want CHEAP LABOR.
2. Business owners who want labor that CAN'T form unions.
3. Politicians who don't want low wage labor to VOTE, for the reason that, in general, lower wage workers vote D.
4. Politicians who don't want the immigrant problem to go away because it's a great way to "rally the base". These same pols don't want the abortion debate to go away. Both are great ways to raise money and rally the base.

I have a good friend who basically spouts all the Rush Limbaugh points on this. His feeling is ANYONE with skin darker than his should be stopped on the street and forced to show ID. He somehow thinks that it would be "easy" to round up 11,000,000 people. No ideas on how to identify the ones to round up.

Somehow he firmly believes that "hard working Americans" are lining up to cut lettuce, pick fruit and other such labor. This is a guy who won't mow his own lawn because "it's hot and hard work". I guess he also thinks that all business owners, particularly CORPORATE FARMS AND FOOD PROCESSORS are raging liberals.

Is there anyone on this site, or their kids or friends who would work the fields in AZ, process chickens in AL, TX, AR? It is difficult work and not highly rewarding.

"Not keeping my records together"? Tim have you read at all my experience? I doubt it, from your response, try that first, then we'll talk. Or maybe not.

    I did and I said:

"The reason it is your responsibility, not the INS's to make SURE they have your paperwork is that until you are a citizen you are a guest here."

May I be a guest at your house and come in and pee on your furniture? Of course not.

    Sorin
    You asked me,

And I answered it, then you ridicule me?

I am glad you immigrated legally, welcome to the United States. Folks who come here illegally disrespect everything you did to come here legally.

Your life story is a piece of cake compared to what I have gone through. And you would say the same thing to me about your life. Every life has mountains and valleys. Just this morning, I got a call that my mother has less than six months to live. I am in a deep valley right now, but that is the circle of life. Another mountain top will come, and another valley, etc....

We just have to live life and follow the rules/laws of wherever we live.

I've deleted four posts in this thread already that were personal attacks. If you can't discuss a passionate topic without getting nasty to one another, I will have no problem banning those members from doing so again in the future.

This forum exists so we can discuss topics, not so we can attack one another.

    Thank you for the understanding.

Tell me about it. I was ready to break out the violin for him.

Anyone who's got any level of success has a story of hardship. Who gives a rip? The question is what you do after you've faced hardships. Hint - it's not whining and moaning about how hard it was. My views and voiced opinions on this are not to beat anyone down. It's to toughen you up. Real estate is a hard, cold, uncaring business. There is no room for sniveling in this business. If you can't handle the prospect of potentially losing the profits of a decade or more of work and decide you're still going to get back up and continue to fight, you need to find something else to do.

Ray, you came in here as a newcomer calling people "racist and simple". You have just lost the argument and any credibility. You have also lost any business from me and the Chicagoans within my network.

Edit - it appears adjustments were made. I won't forget that name though.

Unfortunately, despite previous warnings not to personally attack other members, some here have been unable to do so, and as a result, have been banned from the site. Anyone else wish to be banned?

    Keep it in check, people.

We have an excellent legal immigration policy which millions of people have used to move to this country. Why must we tolerate ILLEGAL immigration?

Look at how long this has been an issue. The real reason that illegal immigration exists is that there are powerful corporate and political interest that benefit. Everybody complains about illegal immigration but are Americans ready to pay the price in terms of higher cost for goods and services that low cost illegal immigrant labor help keep down? Are people prepared to pay higher taxes for a more secure border or more aggressive immigration enforcement?

I for one agree that we need to do a better job of securing our borders and enforcing the existing immigration laws more aggressively.

On another note George W. Bush Jr. had 8 YEARS to put new immigration policy in place and failed to make any signficant changes. To title this thread "What Part of Illegal Do Liberals Not Understand" fails to acknowledge this fact and the fact that the biggest employers of illegal aliens are often businesses and corporations with CONSERVATIVE political mindsets.

It's so easy to be passionate and even confront opposing ideas while adhering to the rules....

Actually there was one significant change. After 9/11 we no longer had any illegal aliens coming into the country that flew planes into buildings or tried to blow them up.

Tom - your response was to a post that was removed, and was also removed as a result. Nothing more.

And for those who are confused, who believe that we moderate political views, we don't. We just moderate those posts that violate our rules, especially those where people personally attack one another.

If this discussion can't get back on track, it might be time to close it down......

    Thanks

Not only did they fly airplanes into our buildings, they got their Flight Training from US Flight Schools.

Okay, I'll help put it back on track.

The U.S. like most countries, have borders and immigration laws. If you enter the country illegally, you've broken the law. My nine year old understands that, and my immigrant ("resident alien") wife understands it as well.

People try to ignore or argue around that, even interject race into the equation. Even going as far as to insinuate that anyone arguing against illegal aliens is doing so due to race. That is lame, and a common theme and currently being used by the media to demonize the Tea Party movement.

It's time people stop sitting back and accepting themselves or others being called "racist" (especially given the slanderous implications) just because we don't subscribe to a particular left wing doctrine.

I realize that race is a delicate topic, but the point needs to be made.

Now, whose got some cheap properties to sell me!

How is that any different than being called "un-patriotic" if you disagreed with the Bush Agenda?
