you help a friend move into their new home in the Highlands area of Denver and you take your time on the way back home driving around the side streets looking at all the flips and scrape offs going on to try to get more ideas.
@Steve Vaughan, I can see your friend or significant other with you at a yard sale rolling their eyes... "Seriously? Again? Ugh, ok... go ask them!" ;-P
you can't leave the scene of any yard sale without first knowing whether they will be selling/moving or not.
Steve:
This made me smile. About three years ago, I wandered down the street from one of my properties to a yard sale (estate sale) taking place. When I came-up the front walk, the lady running the show asked me for what I was looking. I responded that I would like to buy the yard ;-)
... or you laugh your behind off regularly watching HGTV, especially when they run the numbers for the flipping show, and when they cut to the scene of the "flipper" host laying tile and it is readily apparent to an experienced eye that it was the first tile they ever laid, and cut to the next scene with a perfectly pressed and clean shirt with no sweat or grout, and then cut to the next scene when they went over budget and come up with the brilliant solution of "No problem, we'll just list it for more", and then they magically get that inflated price every time ... now that's entertainment! Some of the finest comedy shows on TV so far as I'm concerned :)

I'm not allowed to watch those shows ... or CSI {I have a background in computer/communications security} with my wife.
One of these lives at home, at the office, in your car next to the first aid kit, and as a cell phone app.
You know, in case you're in a life-or-death emergency wherein you need to quickly evaluate if that mattress store's 0% interest rate offer is legit or not based on the presented monthly payment. Or in case a car salesman suddenly emerges from the bushes without warning, and your puppy's life depends on your ability to quickly debunk his "leasing is better than buying" pitch.
Your family consistently complains that you're hearing isn't so good, a problem that you acknowledge having, but somehow you can hear from across a restaurant that someone is thinking of what to do with their paid off triplex.

YEAH its awful/funny/sad when I watch any of those medical shows and the MRI's or CT scans or Xrays are upside down/backward ! Plus ALWAYS they show doctors in certain specialties that WOULD NEVER do those procedures in real life (like a routine ER doc "coiling a brain aneurysm"-- yeah right... NOT!)

I always love the token goth character or whatever you want to call them that is doing all the computer stuff... gotta wear all black, have lots of tattoos, have crazy died hair, and have lots of piercings on you won't understand the technology!
I feel this is more dorky than nerdy:
I always check the oops paint section, and every time I buy something haha. Too good to pass up, "pukey brown... well it's only 8 bucks we may use it"
When you reach your goal of 25 units and now 50 sounds like a better goal. Hope the wife doesn't figure out I upped the goal until we are well into 40 doors!
Or when you've got good friends or co workers that time and time again buy a brand new $300k+ single family house to live in on $50k to $60k a year salary, and they show you the house with big smiles asking your opinion on what they should do with all the landscaping or what types of ridiculously expensive art pieces they should buy, or how they want to rip up the brand new porcelain tiles because "the wifey wants new travertine in the brand spankin new house" and all you can do is think about the incredibly terrible "investment" they just made was as I drive off in my 1997 Toyota Tacoma with $270k miles on it, but financially sound. No disrespect to them, just.... ouch... lol

oh, that reminds me of another one ...
... or your significant other/girlfriend/fiance/wife and you have "date night" roaming the isles of Home Depot discussing what finishes you want to put into your property (flip, rental, and/or primary residence).

My wife doesn't fall for that anymore.. i've tried driving for dollars as a "date night", going to Lowes, etc.
But hey not complaining, at least she lets me invest and trusts me =)

Before my wife and I got married, our courtship was to spend one weekend painting her place, next weekend ripping out tiles in mine, next weekend putting in trim at hers, next weekend laying tile at mine. Lot's of "date nights" at HD and Lowes and D4Ds.
She told me a story of how she went into a pawn shop to kill some time and look for deals, and the owner kept trying to direct her to the jewelry case, and she instead asked where he kept the power tools for sale ... after that story I new she was a keeper. By the end both our houses were remodeled, we were in escrow on another, and we were engaged ... real estate geeks in love :) Married July 4, 2009 ... gave up my freedom on independence day, LOL.
