I just picked up my wifes new model y yesterday here in Vegas and they instruct you to use FSD on your first drive off the lot.

so you just put in destination ( home in my case which was about 30 miles) and press the icon on the Multi-function screen and the car just moves out of the parking stall through the parking lot onto the street and all the way home in rush hour traffic which included multiple lane changes and freeway merging etc. it knew to go through our back gate of our gated community and then drove right in front of our garage and stopped. Like many cars it does have a parking feature but I did not use that.

Never touched the wheel once also no nag light like my previous Teslas  this has come a LONG Way it was very cool Also there is 4 modes slow poke mode / chill mode    regular then sport we went in regular on city streets it went 5 miles over the posted ( which in vegas can be 20 miles an hour less than traffic) but when we got into traffic it just kept up with traffic.

For a Vegas car were you really never go out of the valley this is a very good choice NO gas no oil very sporty and the FSD is thing of the future.  Having owned many airplanes and as such used a few different auto pilots I have always been skeptical of technology.

So thats the report..  PS these are the price of any of the current 4 door sedans.  the Model Y i believe is one of the top 3 sellers in the country today at those price points.

Tesla so not work for everyone but if you dont drive more than 100 to 150 miles a day and can charge in your garage its the way to go in my mind for a everyday driver.

@Jay Hinrichs I did 14 hours straight picking my kids up from camp and back, only 6 minutes total time was me with hands on the wheel doing anything at all. Not that all conversations have to come back to real estate investing, but I've also had 3 renters this year alone ask that we install 240v outlets in garages for their teslas.

If your community is more than 5 -10 years old (my community gate uses rolling codes and doesn’t work.) you should be able to have the home link module installed. (Mobile service at your home.) Then it will automatically open the community gate and garage door for you when you approach the gate and garage door. You can also choose driveway or garage for your home and it will park where you want.

I do miss the exact speed setting instead of chill/regular/sport. It made changing speeds when approaching speed enforcement much easier. As much as you enjoyed it locally I really enjoy it driving cross country.  It made driving from MN back to Vegas with only one hotel stop a breeze.

The self parking has also gotten much better but I have yet to use the smart summon. If you park outside often buy a cover for the glass roof. Enjoy!

With the super charger network that actually works compared to the other ones its come a LOOONG way from when I bought my first one in 2016 ish.. I drove in about 2018 to my Vegas place from Portland in cold weather and the superchargers were much farther apart one stretch between Idaho Falls and Salt Lake I had to draft a big rig at 55 MPH to make it to the next charger with like 1%  and that was after starting full.. cold weather does suck the juice.

I am a Fan boy no doubt..  I sold Tesla my Model X to get this one.. I dont keep my teslas past the warranty especially the X it had to many moving parts.

ON the RE side our very short lived stint as STR owners with a Riverfront property on the Columbia River we put a Tesla charger there well for us and advertised it and it was very popular with Portland Tesla owners as the property was about 75 minute drive and no chargers near the property closest one was on 1 5 30 miles away ( super charger)  This is the future no doubt in my mind.

I have been watching this evolve and think to myself - could I let a car drive for me? I am not sure yet if I could - but I have seen the videos and it's pretty cool

@Chris Seveney that’s my problem with FSD “city driving”.  I find it overly cautious when I want to go faster, (Mostly turns from one road to another.) But then it has no problem driving 10 over (Like maybe I do.) with no technology for slowing down as you approach or pass the police officer collecting tolls. But the HWY driving is pretty flawless.

especially here in Vegas where folks drive 50 to 65 on the surface streets.
