Looking for a community here in Chicago

Hello BP family,

I'm looking for a community to join here in Chicago, IL.

Been stuck in analysis paralysis for years as you can see from my previous posts. Reading all the BP books, listening to all podcasts and videos.

I'm surrounded by people who support my goals, but they are stuck in the 9-5 grind and they only focus on moving up in the corporate world and I been stuck in that loop as well. I currently work for a great company as an assistant property manager and property accountant for a luxury 242-unit residential building in West Loop, Chicago which I'm currently happy at and it will 100% help me financially to achieve my investor goals. However, this is not what I want my end all be all to be. I'd love to connect with locals here in the city or even in the suburbs (where I moved too) so I'm surrounded with likeminded people who share commons goals. Being surrounded by people that have the same goals really helps with my confidence and knowledge to move forward. I'm so stuck. I'm open to connect, meetups, etc.

Thank you!

- A newbie stuck in paralysis of all sorts

Jess, welcome. I’m in the Chicago market and manage properties throughout the south suburbs, so I understand the analysis paralysis part well.

My advice would be to pick one lane first: small multifamily or single-family BRRRR, then start underwriting real deals weekly instead of only consuming more content. The books and podcasts help, but the confidence usually comes from looking at actual properties, rents, repairs, taxes, insurance, and management issues in the market you want to buy in. Boots on the ground. And you will meet and learn from many others.

Happy to connect. I’m always open to meeting local people who are serious about Chicago-area real estate.
