Buy and Hold Newbie Accountability Group

Hey everyone!

I’ve been a lurker on BP for several months and decided it’s time to get serious. I’m a 39 year old software engineer from Northern Virginia. I’m new to investing, although my wife and I had a rental condo back in 2005-2006, a former primary residence -- so we have brief landlording experience. We’re extremely excited and motivated to get started in real estate investing in earnest. I’ve read several books, listened to many podcasts and read lots of articles

My wife @Amy Krz and I have a short term goal of getting an out-of-state Turnkey property under contract by the end of May. We’ve already contacted several turnkey providers, and have been preapproved for a loan.

I'm looking for other buy and hold newbies that are interested in holding each other accountable in achieving our real estate goals. My thought is a group (or even an individual) that can push one another, act as a sounding board, provide referrals, funding ideas and expand our REI knowledge as we go would be a valuable resource to have during our journey to financial independence. I'm not looking for partnerships, although perhaps that's an option down the line.

I’m not really sure of the logistics — perhaps just email threads, chat sessions, Skype calls, in-person coffee meetings, etc. Those details can be worked out.

Anyone have interest in something like this? I’m looking for people ready to take action! PM me or reply if you are!!

Email threads are probably a quick and easy way to get started; we can probably start there and see what happens.

I am in too. Have couple of turn keys in Indy which I bought last year. Still newbie in this field and liked your idea of having small group for accountability and motivate each other to march towards one common goal - freedom...

I'm in! My wife and I are looking to retire off rentals, closing on our second townhouse at the end of the month. Our plan gets kinda fuzzy after conventional financing runs out.

I'd love to team up with some investors to learn the business.

Count me in. I've researched investing in the past, but have just stared up again and would love to start learning from others in a small group so my husband and I can move past research and into actually owning investment property. My email should be in my profile, but if it doesn't show up for some reason let me know.

    Wow lots of interest!

I'm going to stop taking requests for the group now so we can keep it manageable -- if someone wants to make group 2+ after this post, I think that's great.

This is a great idea @Todd Krzeminski and @Amy Krz this is exactly what we've been looking for!!  Love that you're taking initiative because it's something we think it would add so much value for new buy and hold investors  in the NOVA area.

I think email threads and Google hangouts once a month or quarter would be a good start.  Let me know if you need any help!

Hey @Todd Krzeminski it's a great idea! I chime into a couple of these accountability groups, it really helps to learn from each other and stay on top of things. I'm also an aspiring buy-and-hold investor, and a licensed agent as well.

Let me know what you guys end up doing, I would love to join.

@Todd Krzeminski  check out Brie Schmidts pod casts on turnkey-reviews  these are all turnkey investors some new some very experienced they go into a lot of detail on how they chose a market the operator etc etc.. very detailed and 100% from owners like you and on point about Turnkey... I think you will find them very informative and useful.. Brie does an excellent job interviewing and bringing out the correct questions to ask that will help you folks.  And of Course Brie Schmidt is the original BP poster Queen for  ( I quite my day job because I now have enough rentals )  ... which is what most folks aspire to and she has done it...

Hey Todd, I'm curious as to why you are seeking "out of state" rental property rather than in your local area.

    Hello Todd,

Welcome to BP! I am sure you have already seen how useful this site can be in terms of advice, and professional knowledge.

What states are you looking into for turnkey properties? Those types of investments can be the best for out of state  investors.

Feel free to reach out to me and I will be able to answer any questions.

    Happy investing!
