Looking for some advice

Posted

I'm currently working in construction management, but my goal is to build a real estate portfolio and transition into working for myself. I don't think my current job is helping me acquire the skill set I will need to be a successful investor so I started looking in other places. I currently have a couple job offers. The first is for a small residential renovation company, the pay is not very good, but I would get experience with estimating and drafting. The second is for a large commercial real estate company. The pay is better and I would be a project manager for commercial and industrial construction projects. For someone looking to gain experience and get set up to be a real estate investor, which option seems best? Open to any/all input.

I would say the 2nd option. Being a project manager you'd manage people, see costs for rehabs, put together bids, etc. What's your overall goals in REI? Now get a breakdown of your duty/tasks for each. Review the Pros and Cons of each
