Agent Commissions too high?
Selling my SFR, real estate agent put a total of 10% of the purchase price on the fee estimate. 6% for him and 4% for the buyer’s agent.
This seems excessive to me.
Is it?
Every google search yields “average of 6%” split between seller agent and buyer agent.
He’s done a great job but I think we’re, AT LEAST, 3-4% too high here.
What do you think, real estate agents of Biggerpockets?

Generally speaking, the time to negotiate that is before you sign the listing agreement. Its worth having the discussion, just keep in mind you likely already agreed to this in writing, so it may be tricky.
