In need of help

Posted

Dear BiggerPockets Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am a disabled veteran with a wonderful family, including my wife, kids, and a flock of 10 emotional support ducks. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2025, which was discharged in September 2025.

Currently, I’m trying to improve our housing situation. My family has been renting a home for nearly two years at $1,500 a month, and I've always paid on time. However, since my bankruptcy, no financial institution is willing to assist me. My monthly take-home pay, after taxes and child support, is a little over $5,000, yet this seems to be overlooked by lenders.

I urgently need assistance as my ducks endured a harsh Michigan winter in a family member's barn, and with warmer weather approaching, they need a proper place to live, fly, and play. Unfortunately, some in the community have not been supportive of our ducks, even as they choose to feed wild ducks in the area.

If anyone is able to help or point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for considering my situation.
