What the heck do all those Abbreviations Stand for?

Quite a few new users (and plenty who have been around for a while) are confused by certain abbreviations that are used on BiggerPockets all the time. 

Well, we've put together a list of these abbreviations, so that you, our readers, posters, and members, can have a quick way to check out what these arcane abbreviations actually stand for.

Special thanks to our awesome development team for putting this together for the benefit of our users like you!

NOI

Oh, and of course like with any new launch I'm sure we missed a whole bunch of abbreviations. If you want to throw out a few more that we should add to the list (we've got about 80-100 abbreviations listed currently), make sure it is currently NOT in the list (meaning, you see it in a post, hover the mouse over it, click, but do not get an explanation for said abbreviation), and then reply here suggesting we add it!

HOVER doesn't always pop-over the definition, but just changes the cursor to ?

Btw:  I'm sure you're aware that mobile (ie touch devices) can not support any mouse over events.

    @Mindy Jensen I'm on the mobile app on my iPad and don't see a box at the top of the thread marked follow. Is that not available on the app? If not, will that be a feature coming soon? For this scenario, I'm hoping I get to put my foot in my mouth b/c I've been saving links to my apple reading list when I'm using the app. The list has gotten ridiculously long.

    Notice I mentioned Detroit in the same light and I'm sold on Detroit. take it in the good fun it was intended. Although it does seem that every time someone asks a question about Detroit there are immediately 25 TK providers from Clev pitching their wares.  Is that Clev's only industry, TK companies?

    Edit to ad TK should be added to the list

    Being one of those "new users" of whom you spoke, I really appreciate that BP does the hover and pop up thing! It's fabulous to be reading a post or article and not have to go look for a definition for something I don't understand. Thank you, BiggerPockets!

    Thank you! Real Estate terms are really a new 'language' and I get discouraged knowing there is good information in a post, but I don't get the full meaning of the sentence without looking up abbreviations.  I lose links sometimes when I go off on an abbreviation hunt……. which post, book, blog did I see that in and which one explained it in a way I understand. This will be helpful.

    Scott Trench , technically they are acronyms. The military & the oilfield are overrun with them. To the point that TLA stands for three letter acronym. Very cool feature & looking forward to it being available in iOS.

    I can't "hover" with my Samsung android device, nor do I see underlined words to click on.  Are you guys accessing the blog with laptop or desktop on the main website and via the mobile app?

    I know this is an old post, but I’m hoping that I get an answer!! 
    what does FQ stand for?  Here’s part of the listing ... that acronym is used in the expanded property info ... thank you in advance! 

    “... This area has recently become a new hub of downtown with lots of new construction starting this year. Many young architects (like myself) and artist are moving in the neighborhood. (I live one block away). This is not F.Q. Story, there is some urban grittiness to it. We personally like it, but realize it's not for everyone. Rent: $2,200, includes: gas, water, sewer, trash, common wireless high-speed internet, parking and building landscape maintenance.”
