My first real estate investment was in 2010. I kept acquiring properties, sometimes using the BRRR strategy. I've been without a day job for 1.5 years looking for more deals and got a couple large portfolios in 2016. That hit our passive income goals but we had to recoup cash buffer.
It's officially official, we are free and neither of us have to work!
Looking forward to living life with my wife and both of us being able to do what we want when we want.
Celebrating with a well aged cigar from the year it all started. And some of my top shelf bourbon.

Congrats to you and your wife. Your post gave me inspiration this morning upon reading it. That it is possible. I just re-rendered back in full time with a tenacity to give it more than 100%. Just got engaged and he is in rehab/construction. I shared with him your post that it is definitely possible to be financial free in real estate investing. Thank you & congrats to you both. Inspiration for sure!

@Austin Fruechting Wow, I'm 18 years old and very inspired by your accomplishment. Congrats! This is one of my biggest goals. What advice would you have for me getting started? I've been spending my free time educating myself and am wondering what route to take in doing my first deals at my age.
Also, with only working a few hours a month on 107 units you must have your work outsourced pretty well. Do you use property management company's to handle the day-to-day work? Thank you very much and congratulations.

@Devyn Grillo - Thanks for the congrats. Yes I use property management. If you haven't read through this whole thread. I've answered a lot of questions and outlined a lot of stuff. There's good material.
The best advice is study and learn everything you can. Know your numbers inside and out.

@John Smith It's a bit of a unique situation. I self managed for a while, then started a little business managing other people's because I didn't trust the property managers that were available. Then at the end of 2013 I sold the business to people that I thought would do a good job and that I would trust with mine. That was the last I managed.
