Smart locks vs dumb keypad locks
I've been using non smart Schlage BE365 locks for 10 years or so for 2-3 unit buildings I've owned. Mostly content. Does anyone use smart locks for a long term rentals? I have not because I don't usually have internet on site, but now I have an apartment building to manage, and potentially the scale makes it make sense to have internet for such a large building for locks/exterior cameras/monitoring, and with cell phone companies now providing internet, internet may be cheaper. Traditional internet they gouge you and you have to change internet companies every few years. I'm just wondering what the value is of having smart locks, for when a plumber comes by and I can't meet him so I can unlock remotely? Checking logs for security? Obviously for short term rentals smart locks are great, but those are prohibited in my town. Smart locks such as Schlage Encode are definitely more expensive than keypad non smart locks, and when you multiply that by 20 locks it adds up.
