18 year old, first year electrical apprentice
hello, my name is Dax Bradley. I am 18 years old and am in my first year of being an electrician. I won't work this job the rest of my life, I feel as if I'm supposed to be greater than a worker. I plan on house hacking my first property. I have a lender that has taught me a lot and helped me tremendously. I plan on buying my first property (duplex) the day I turn 19 (August 25th). I made my first deposit into my newly opened savings account today. So that is where I'm at currently. I am just going to make as much money as I can over the next few months so I can have enough for the FHA Loan down payment and closing cost. I will no matter what have that piece of paper in my hand on my 19th birthday, standing right in front of that duplex. Any kind of advice for me would be so greatly appreciated.

Dax, your mindset is incredible—most 18-year-olds aren’t thinking this far ahead. You’re on the right track: stack cash aggressively, keep your credit clean, and work closely with your lender to stay mortgage-ready. As you search, run the numbers carefully—make sure your future unit covers as much of the mortgage as possible. Also, start networking with local investors or real estate meetups now—they can help you avoid costly first-time mistakes and maybe even bring deals your way. Keep that fire—you’re building something big.
Good luck!
