Commercial Attorney Expanding Into Multifamily (CT & FL)

Hey everyone — excited to finally join the BiggerPockets community.

My name is Jonathan, and I’m a commercial/contracts attorney based in Connecticut, currently transitioning my professional skill set into small-to-mid-sized multifamily investing. After spending the last several years negotiating thousands of commercial agreements, building intake systems, and running high-volume risk management workflows, I realized how naturally those skills translate into real estate operations.

I’m especially focused on:

  • Value-add multifamily (5–20 units)

  • DSCR-friendly properties

  • Tertiary and emerging markets in Connecticut & Florida

  • Joint ventures where I operate and a capital partner invests

  • Systems, automation, and clean legal structure around deals

While I’m newer to real estate, I’m not new to:

  • High-stakes negotiation

  • Contract structuring

  • Due diligence

  • Dispute resolution

  • Process optimization

  • Risk mitigation

  • Managing moving parts and stakeholders

I’m here to learn from people who’ve already walked the path, but also to add value anywhere I can — especially when it comes to contracts, deal structure, partnership agreements, or compliance issues.

What I’m looking for:

  • Networking with other multifamily investors

  • Mentorship or collaboration with experienced operators

  • Relationships with private lenders and potential equity partners

  • Local CT/FL contacts: contractors, PMs, agents, and lenders

  • Market insights, deal analysis feedback, and operational guidance

If you're working on similar strategies, open to JV conversations, or just want to connect, I'd love to chat. Looking forward to contributing here and growing alongside this community.

Thanks for having me!
