I'm David and I am considering investing in real estate. I don't have much knowledge on how to go about it but i am willing to learn.
Thank you
The best way to start is by learning the basics, analyzing deals, understanding cash flow, and familiarizing yourself with local landlord rules, but don’t be afraid to explore out-of-state markets too. Places like Ohio still have small multifamily and duplexes under $200K that cash flow from day one, which is perfect for beginners looking to get real experience without breaking the bank. Start small, focus on learning, and connect with investors who’ve been through it, you’ll pick up the ropes fast.
David, welcome to the BP community. That willingness to learn is the right starting point. Begin with education that is understand financing, cash flow and risk before jumping into a deal. Start small, run the numbers carefully and connect with experienced investors in your local market. Real estate rewards preparation more than enthusiasm.
You can start by attending local real estate networking events to learn from other investors. That’s actually how I found my mentor, and we ended up partnering on my first local deal. Best of luck on your journey, David!

Hey David, welcome to BiggerPockets! Starting out in real estate can feel overwhelming at first, but the best thing you can do is focus on learning the basics and understanding what type of investing fits your goals, whether that’s single-family rentals, small multifamily, or even light rehabs. A lot of people find that looking at growing, affordable markets makes it easier to find cash-flowing deals, and for example, Columbus, Ohio is one of those cities where you can still get properties in the $120K–180K range that meet the 1% rule, cash flow from day one, and have strong appreciation potential because of population growth, job growth, and big companies like Intel, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Honda, and LG expanding there. It’s also very landlord-friendly, which helps as you start managing your first properties. The key is to start small, educate yourself, build a network, and gradually scale up as you get comfortable. Happy to connect and answer any questions you have!
Real estate can seem overwhelming at first, but once you understand the basics, it gets much clearer. There are a lot of great people in this space willing to share knowledge and help along the way.
If you ever have questions or want help understanding the financing side, feel free to reach out. Happy to help however I can.

Welcome to BP @David Ubani. Lots of great knowledge, forum threads on here to help you learn.
Highly recommend attending some workshops, networking events and reading some good books on real estate investing. Now is the time to really dive in on learning how to do things the right way.
At those networking events, make sure you ask lots of questions and learn from people's mistakes. If someone is willing to let you shadow them on their projects, deal finding or even negotiations, do it. You'll learn a lot by being a fly on the wall and watching / listening.

Good work on getting started @David Ubani. Bigger pockets is the best platform to learn. I started in 2022 when i didn't know much and read bigger pockets book. Now after 4 years, I own 28 rental units and sold over 200+ investment properties in my market. Watch the podcasts and read books by brandon turner and david greene.
You should probably look into the midwest to invest in brrrr/value add or turnkey deals. Connect with a good agent and build a team of contractors, lenders, property managers and deal flow.
