New to Rental Properties

I'm new to real estate but it's something I've always wanted to get into. I'm in the northern NJ area. I recently purchased my first rental property. 

Does anyone else rent in NJ? It seems like this is going to be a tough market. 

Also wondering anyone have any advice for how I can find good tradesman (flooring, electric, painting, etc.)? 

I am also curious if anyone here has been able to use real estate to offset their taxes.
