Hello everyone,

My name is Timothy Casallas and I'm from Queens, NY. I'm very new to real estate with 0 investment properties as of right now but it is quickly becoming a passion/obsession for me. I currently am active duty in the Marine Corps and am moving to New River, N.C. from Fort Walton Beach, Florida shortly. This hasn't stopped me from doing everything I can do try and educate myself whether it be podcasts, webinars, books, the forums etc. I love searching for deals and using the analysis calculators to see if they make sense.

I am currently focused on Buy and Hold Rental properties as my niche with Flipping as a close second. I'd love to talk to people in the areas that I am looking for properties as so I can learn more from the people with more experience. Those areas are:

-NY (close to NYC), Northern NJ area

-Okaloosa County, Florida

-Jacksonville, North Carolina (preferably near Camp Lejeune)

Thanks for having me as a part of the BiggerPockets community and I hope to hear from some of you soon!

North Carolina has a non-judicial foreclosure system and there are lots of opportunities to buy properties at the courthouse steps.  Especially in Jacksonville, NC.  We've bought many properties in this area.  View the trustee attorney websites for upcoming lists of minimum bid price and location.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Welcome to the forum! I am an active investor in Fort Walton Beach. We have a great investment club called the professional investors guild that meets once a month.

Shoot me a message with you contact info and we can link up. I'm active duty as well.

First, thanks for your service.

Welcome to the vibrant BP community, where you will find like minded individuals committed to REI and also helping others succeed.

Your time on this social media site will be well spent.

You have taken the 1st step by announcing your readiness and commitment to embark on a REI career.

You mentioned an interest in buy and hold, as well as flips, so I added guides on both niches while you wait for feedback on your investment areas selected. (how to buy a rental property) (step by step guide to flips)

The bottom line is that you must take action to start.

Don't get bogged down with analysis paralysis. You must take risks, but, ensure that they are calculated risks.

Below are some links to get you started. (video with 64 lectures and approx 6hrs of material) (Ultimate beginner's guide to REI)

Lastly, this site thrives on interactions and as such we encourage two way exchanges and look forward to educational and thought provoking ideas relevant to REI.
