Chicago Eviction moratorium

So I'm looking into the eviction moratorium for Chicago and from my understanding a landlord can still technically evict tenants if the tenant does not contact the landlord to claim Covid-19 impact with in 5 days of receiving the eviction notice. Do they need proof that they've been affected? If they fail to respond within the 5 days does that mean the landlord can proceed with the eviction like normal? Has anyone gone through an eviction with the mortartium in place? Thank you guys.

@Marco Lopez I believe the whole state still has a moratorium so no land lords can take action until that lifts. I would anticipate that lifting once the vaccines are out in force so we are probably still in for a few more months of this.

@Marco Lopez I just sent you a DM with one of the top eviction lawyers in Chicago. In Chicago there is two documents the tenant has to be presented and then next step decsisions can be made based on the completion and return of those documents or lack of return of those documents. The attorney I sent you does have an approach right now that is getting owners to the eviction filing spot.

@Marco Lopez - Just curious where exactly is your property and how come you are having to evict? Is there any other options such as cash for keys....?

Thank you so much Mark will definitely look into it if it comes to an eviction so far all my tenants are paying in full. I'm just planning ahead in case it does come down to that.

My property is located in Hermosa on 4200 w Fullerton. Tenants are currently paying full I'm just getting a bit ahead of myself if worst comes to worst I'd like to have a plan. My first approach would be cash for keys and if that didnt work I'd probably start consulting with eviction lawyers to see what I can do.

@Mark Ainley do you happen to know the success rate of your attorney's approach? Also- would you mind sending that eviction attorney to me as well? Thank you.

@Aaron Zimmerman I am not sure things have made it that far to start gauging outcomes but he is getting things to the next steps unlike we have all been able to do the last 8 months. Amazing what small progress looks like and how much relief it brings even thought it is not much. This attorney will be on our Podcast next week so tune in.
