MLS access to NW Indiana?

Question

Wondering how MLS works in Chicago area. Does it cover just chicago and suburbs, how far out does it go?

Can you work with a real estate agent licensed in Illinois to access properties in Northwest Indiana?

Northwest Indiana has it's own MLS. If you are wanting to invest in both areas, you will need a realtor who is licensed in both Illinois and Indiana or two realtors.

I realize that this post is from 7 years ago, BUT if you ever need someone licensed in both states, I also have access to the MLS in Illinois and Northwest Indiana and own properties in the area :)

NWI is an amazing place to invest and I am now trying to sell some of my Chicago properties to go all in Northwest Indiana 😃

@Francis Rusnak the Chicago MLS doesn't give you much in Indiana. It is a separate market. @Tim Polk has helped a bunch of my clients who want to do deals in Indiana. He is an investor and has a strong background in owning, contracting, etc. I would connect with him for Indiana.

I also work in both states and I have separate realtors. My Indiana realtor can't pull sold comps for Indiana. So I work with two of them. Good Luck.

The MLS of Illinois is not comprehensive as far as NWI is concerned.  I would suggest a separate

Realtor for that area.  Best of luck!
