My teenager has been asked to participate in an all day event at Hamilton Park. I have never been there and do not know that exact area at all.

Any safety concerns in this area?  I am vaguely aware that sometimes a park can have unique "turf" issues that are different from the surrounding neighborhood and can be tricky....or maybe that is a myth I have fallen into from media coverage. My cognitive bias (white, north side) brain seems to think I hear about a lot of shootings that happen at parks when a lot of people gather on weekends in the summer.

I'd be careful I heard an alligator was spotted in the Humboldt Park lagoon
