Best Security Camara system?
Hey BP!
I am currently shopping around for a Camara Security system for my 10unit apartment complex, located in Grandview, MO.
I am wanting to be able to monitor all exterior corners along with entrances and common areas in the interior - it would be about a total of 15 camaras.
I am aware that I will most likely also need to have internet service - nothing fancy but enough to be able to manage camaras.
Any recommendations on either internet or security system would be greatly appreciated!!
Aloha,
Best is to find a local vendor that can prepare a solid plan and proposal for your specific property. It is critical to have evidence quality imagery (faces need to be clearly identifiable at normal distance); plenty of NVR storage...at least two weeks continuous recording of all cameras; POE power supply; easy, high quality mobile app available; and an intuitive, user friendly, remote access capability. Some are VERY clumsy to operate, others are a breeze. You want to be able to quickly scan recordings to find what you need, and print or save clear screen shots and video clips. A good vendor will help you get the proper camera for each location...they have various focal lengths, day/night capabilities, license plate readers, and analytics (that can automatically send you an email when an area is entered during a specified period, such as late night, great for catching trespassers) that are pretty easy to configure for common needs.
They do not come cheap, but OTOH they give you eyes 24/7/365 and are generally very low maintenance. Some locations may need lenses cleaned a couple times per year, but otherwise they are pretty durable and trouble free. Check local law (for video AND for audio recording) for necessary signage. Consider two-way audio capability at main entrance or perimeter where allowed (you do not typically record audio, but can activate it when "live").
