Hello everyone,
Quick background on me, I grew up around real estate and have always had a special love for the business as a whole. I graduated a year ago, and have since locked down a corporate job and have again started to pursue new knowledge and opportunities in real estate investing. I was extremely intrigued throughout college, but new I wasn't in the right place to begin anything.
I am currently living in Green Bay, and would like to begin in this market, with the potential for out-of-state investing in the future. I have seen the NE Wisconsin REI group, and plan on becoming involved with that. Other than the group I was hoping to connect with some of you, and potentially learn from your careers in RE. Knowledge is power in this industry, and I realize nothing happens overnight so #1 on my to-do list is to connect, learn, and grow with all of you.
Thanks everyone!

@Ian Dalebroux you live in a great place to invest, no need to go out of state. I assume you have already started to listen to BP podcasts and ordered some of the books here. Be mindful with the REI groups, most have a commercial purpose, recruit students etc - I am not familiar with griup you mentioned, so may not be the case. Maybe start with a house hack! Just made a YouTube video about that.

Welcome to the real estate tribe @Ian Dalebroux !
What are your goals? What are you going to do to get there?
Wisco REIA is a good place for networking. Some real deal players in there and other key team members- hard money, contractors, etc.
I live in De Pere and am always down to grab coffee and talk shop. Hopefully see you at a meeting!

HI @Ian Dalebroux , welcome to BP! I grew up in real estate as well, you can definitely say it runs in my blood. Depending on they type of investing you are doing, consider checking out the Fox Valley Apartment Assoc (I think they are based about minutes from you). It's an active group of buy and hold investors with monthly meetings (I think via Zoom during COVID) and great education opportunities.

@Kevin Gracyalny Hey Kevin! I am also from De Pere, so great to connect with local individuals. My biggest goals as of right now are to connect with local players (lenders, CPAs, and other investors) and really learn the landscape. I marked 2021 as a year of learning and saving, wit 2022 as the year to start making moves. Maybe that timeline shifts, but as of now that's what seems to be best.
My partner and I would like to start with the purchase of a multiplex that we can owner-occupy for the first year with help of an FHA. With step 2 being a repeat with another FHA. Sounds simple, but I know there are many other complexities involved. He is an agent, so his expertise and foot in the door will be extremely helpful going forward.
I'm excited about the REIA group and getting to know more locals in this space. Would love to potentially meet up in the near future and chat about business!

Hi Corina!
Awesome to meet new people who grew up in the space. The apartment association sounds great, I'll definitely have to look into attending because multiplex/apartments are my main focus right now. Do they have a facebook page?

Hey Marcus! Glad to hear about the Green Bay market, I've been curious about if it is a good place to start, or if going out of town/state would be best. I have started with the content, and plan on ingesting as much info as possible in the near future. House hacking is at the top of my list with the beginning of my real estate journey. I think with the position I'm in thats the most reasonable start to my career in real estate.
