Does keeping this SFH Rental Make any Sense?

Brady Fuller
Posted

I bought this house as my home in 2007 and it was never intended to be a rental.  Turns out that was a bad year to buy a house.  I unexpectedly moved in 2010 and selling was not an option as I was $50k underwater due to the housing crash at that time.  It's been a rental ever since then.  Does it make any sense on any planet to ride this out and keep this thing

till it's paid off in 8.5 years?

Sounds like your biggest problem is a poor Tenant Screening process, and poor follow-up on either annual inspections or general Tenant management. Two evictions in under 5 years for a single unit is terrible. Has the unit been well maintained, or updated? Or is it tired and dinghy? You need to attract the best of the Tenant pool for the pricing tier of your unit.
