Finding First House Hack

Nick Dewberry
Posted
Hey everyone, I’m local to Columbus and eager to start my real estate journey with a house hack. A bit about me: I’m a recent college grad working full-time downtown. I’m not coming in with a huge amount of capital, but I bring time, motivation, and a strong willingness to learn. My goal is to use this first house hack as a springboard for a consistently growing rental portfolio. I’d love to connect with other investors in the area, whether you’re a new investor like me or already have experience in the Columbus rental market. If you’ve done something similar, know which neighborhoods are worth targeting, or can recommend agents, lenders, or contractors familiar with investing, I’d love to hear your insights. I’m also happy to grab some coffee and chat! Looking forward to connecting with and learning from this community, go Bucks!

House hack is the best entry level investing method in my opinion. the ideal would be buying a multi-family with an FHA loan. If you're short on fund look at something smaller scale and rent out what you can even if it's a bed and a bath. Use that extra income to put towards your mortgage and drive that down. Then buy another property using the equity and scale yourself from there.
