What is the best way that a beginner off-market bird dog can source the leads for his clients for free for the meantime just to kickstart his business and then move on to the paid method? please give me a detailed method and I hope one of you guys would be happy to put me through.

Driving for dollars is genuinely the most accessible free method. Slow neighborhoods, note addresses with visible distress, then cross-reference ownership on your county assessor's public records. It's labor-intensive but the list is yours and nobody else is working it the same day you are.
